MEMBER-LED WORKSHOPS

Workshops are learning opportunities led by guild members who wish to share their skills and ideas.

Workshops are the third Saturday of the month. Doors open at 9 am, and generally go from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The fee for each workshop is $15 per person for GQCCC members, $20 for sister guild members, and $25 for non-members. There may be an extra materials cost if you do not already have what is required in your stash.

Registration opens 60 days prior to the workshop date. Payment reserves your spot in the class. Workshops payments are non-transferable. Non-members are welcome to sign up, but will be charged a slightly higher fee. Registrants may cancel up to 14 days before the class.

Payment confirms your registration and reserves your space in the workshop. You will be sent the via email the workshop supply list and, if applicable, connection information for Zoom.

The workshop may be cancelled if there are not enough registrants. The minimum number of participants varies by workshop.

In-person workshops are held at GQCCC’s Farmhouse location, 5554 Clayton Rd, Ste. 4, Concord, CA.

If you have a skill or a technique that you would like to share with the membership, please contact the Workshop Chair.

Create a table runner using a unique quilt-as-you-go technique.  Finished size is approximately 15" x 45".  It can be made scrappy, with festive fabrics, or with different shades of green to look like evergreen branches.

Additional blocks can be made to assemble any size quilt.  The picture shows both table runner and lap quilt layouts.

This workshop is suitable for beginners.

Download the supplies list for fabric and equipment requirements.  Full instructions and a template for framing the block will be provided in PDF format for registrants to print prior to the workshop.

This project is based on the Fairy Lake Quilt Design pattern called "Winter Solstice", available for sale on Etsy.

Cancellation allowed until July 1, 2023.

    Kris Cisse

Cathedral Stars is a quick and fun pattern that creates the illusion of curved pieces. A folded and rolled edge technique makes a 3-D overlay, adding dimension and interesting options for quilting.

Kris will show how to assemble the blocks into two different size projects.  One uses 16 blocks, suitable for a wall hanging, table topper, or lap quilt.  The other uses 36 blocks for a queen-size quilt.  Both options are assembled from the same size Cathedral Stars block.

This workshop is for the advanced beginner or intermediate sewist.

Cancellation allowed until August 5, 2023

This workshop will be using the commercial pattern "Travel Duffle Bag 2.1 byAnnie.  THIS IS A TWO-DAY WORKSHOP.

Functional yet stylish, this sturdy large duffle carries everything you need for a weekend trip — and still fits in the overhead bin.

The full-zippered top allows easy access to all your gear. Slip and zippered pockets inside and out keep everything organized and close at hand.

Carry with a padded adjustable carrying strap or quick-grab handles. A trolley sleeve on back slips over handles on rolling luggage.

    The finished bag measures 13"H x 21"W x 8"D."

This workshop is suitable for advanced beginner and intermediate sewists.

You will need to purchase the pattern prior to the workshop.  It is available locally from The Cotton Patch or Cloth Carousel.  It can also be purchased directly from Laurie at a discount, but you must order and pay her before August 25, 2023.
