MEMBER-LED WORKSHOPS

Workshops are learning opportunities led by guild members who wish to share their skills and ideas.

Workshops are the third Saturday of the month. Doors open at 9 am, and generally go from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The fee for each workshop is $15 per person for GQCCC members, $20 for sister guild members, and $25 for non-members. There may be an extra materials cost if you do not already have what is required in your stash.

Registration opens 60 days prior to the workshop date. Payment reserves your spot in the class. Workshops payments are non-transferable. Non-members are welcome to sign up, but will be charged a slightly higher fee. Registrants may cancel up to 14 days before the class.

Payment confirms your registration and reserves your space in the workshop. You will be sent the via email the workshop supply list and, if applicable, connection information for Zoom.

The workshop may be cancelled if there are not enough registrants. The minimum number of participants varies by workshop.

In-person workshops are held at GQCCC’s Farmhouse location, 5554 Clayton Rd, Ste. 4, Concord, CA.

If you have a skill or a technique that you would like to share with the membership, please contact the Workshop Chair.

Learn how to make a double-zipper bag that can be used for almost anything — a toiletry bag for travel, shoes, snacks, quilting supplies, or anything else!

The bag pattern is the Double Zip Gear Bag 2.0 from ByAnnie, which has instructions for three sizes:

    SMALL: 4″H x 8½”W x 5½”D
    MEDIUM: 5″H x 10½”W x 7″D
    LARGE: 6½”H x 13½”W x 9″D

This workshop is for advanced beginner or intermediate sewists. Laurie will teach zipper insertion and how to work with mesh and vinyl.

You will need to purchase the pattern prior to the workshop.  It is available locally from The Cotton Patch or Cloth Carousel.  It can also be purchased directly from Laurie at a discount.

The supplies list can be found on the byAnnie website, and will also be provided once registration and payment is complete.

Participants will need to provide their own fabric, but Laurie can order the pattern and other required supplies at a discount. She will need your list of requested supplies and payment by February 20, 2023.

Cancellation allowed until March 4, 2023.

This workshop will be using the commercial pattern Night and Day byAnnie.  The pattern has instructions for both a tote and a purse.  We will be making the purse.

The purse has one slip and two zippered compartments to separate and organize all of your essentials.  Carry it over the shoulder or crossbody using the adjustable, detachable strap.  Or detach the strap and carry the purse as a clutch.  The purse may be carried on its own or may be used inside the tote as an organizer!

    Purse size is 6½”H x 10½” to 12½”W x 4¾”D.

This workshop is suitable for intermediate or advanced beginner sewists.

You will need to purchase the pattern prior to the workshop.  It is available locally from The Cotton Patch or Cloth Carousel.  It can also be purchased directly from Laurie at a discount, but you must order and pay her before May 20, 2023.

The supplies list can be found on the byAnnie website, and will also be provided once registration and payment is complete.

Cancellation allowed until June 3, 2023.

    Kris Cisse

Cathedral Stars is a quick and fun pattern that creates the illusion of curved pieces. A folded and rolled edge technique makes a 3-D overlay, adding dimension and interesting options for quilting.

Kris will show how to assemble the blocks into two different size projects.  One uses 16 blocks, suitable for a wall hanging, table topper, or lap quilt.  The other uses 36 blocks for a queen-size quilt.  Both options are assembled from the same size Cathedral Stars block.

This workshop is for the advanced beginner or intermediate sewist.

Cancellation allowed until August 5, 2023
