MEMBER-LED WORKSHOPS

Workshops are learning opportunities led by guild members who wish to share their skills and ideas.

Workshops are the third Saturday of the month. Doors open at 9 am, and generally go from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The fee for each workshop is $15 per person for GQCCC members, $20 for sister guild members, and $25 for non-members. There may be an extra materials cost if you do not already have what is required in your stash.

Registration opens 60 days prior to the workshop date. Payment reserves your spot in the class. Workshops payments are non-transferable. Non-members are welcome to sign up, but will be charged a slightly higher fee. Registrants may cancel up to 14 days before the class.

Payment confirms your registration and reserves your space in the workshop. You will be sent the via email the workshop supply list and, if applicable, connection information for Zoom.

The workshop may be cancelled if there are not enough registrants. The minimum number of participants varies by workshop.

In-person workshops are held at GQCCC’s Farmhouse location, 5554 Clayton Rd, Ste. 4, Concord, CA.

If you have a skill or a technique that you would like to share with the membership, please contact the Workshop Chair.

It's a mystery workshop, so we can't give too much away about the pattern, but we can tell you it is going to be a fun day!

Take a leap of faith and follow along, step-by-step, to completing a quilt top together in just a few hours. The pattern will not be released before the class takes place (since it is a mystery!), but you will receive full pattern instructions to take home for future reference.

There are no curves, no HSTs, no flying geese, no special templates or tools needed.  The quilt finishes at approximately 62" x 78" with the suggested borders. This workshop is beginner-friendly, but any level of experience will have a good time!

The pattern requires TWO fabrics for the blocks, for the borders, and for the binding. Select a strong contrast – you do not want one fabric to swallow the other. Large prints, stripes or directional prints are not advised. A good suggestion is a solid and a small to medium print (see photo).  Don't try to get fancy... the pattern won't work otherwise.  The yardage requirements assume 43” of usable width of fabric.

For the top you will need TWO fabrics - TWO yards of each.

You have the option to border it however you wish, but for the suggested borders, you will need the following additional amounts:

Fabric 1 = 1 yard    (total of 3 yards of Fabric 1 if making suggested borders)

Fabric 2 = ¾ yard    (total of 2 ¾ yards of Fabric 2 if making suggested borders)

Depending on your speed of sewing, you may not finish the borders in class, but you will have instructions for the suggested finishing touch. Make certain you have enough fabric to match!

A full list of cutting requirements to be completed prior to the workshop and other needed tools and supplies will be sent once registration and payment is confirmed.

Lunch will be supplied for participants.

Cancellation allowed until November 4, 2023.
