Dale Wolfe

Quilters all over our country are stitching up mats for dogs who live in homeless shelters, until they are adopted. Dale has been sewing and quilting mats for these darling furballs, too, as dogs are so important to Dale as they are to all of us.

Participants in this workshop will make a completed 12" x 18" mat to donate to to the Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) in Walnut Creek. The mat dimensions are set to fit the size of the kennels that are provided for the animals.

This project is great for using scraps. They can be orphan blocks or strips, any color or pattern. A mat can easily be finished within 3–4 hours.  If you are fast at it, you might even finish two!

Supplies needed include:

  • 13” x 19” batting -- a heavy batting is not used, as we need it to be lighter and easy for ARF employees to launder as needed.
  • (4) 5” fabric squares
  • (2) 2.5” x 17” fabric strips
  • (2) 2.5 x 13” fabric strips
