MEMBER-LED WORKSHOPS

Workshops are learning opportunities led by guild members who wish to share their skills and ideas.

Workshops are the third Saturday of the month. Doors open at 9 am, and generally go from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm.

The fee for each workshop is $15 per person for GQCCC members, $20 for sister guild members, and $25 for non-members. There may be an extra materials cost if you do not already have what is required in your stash.

Registration opens 60 days prior to the workshop date. Payment reserves your spot in the class. Workshops payments are non-transferable. Non-members are welcome to sign up, but will be charged a slightly higher fee. Registrants may cancel up to 14 days before the class.

Payment confirms your registration and reserves your space in the workshop. You will be sent the via email the workshop supply list and, if applicable, connection information for Zoom.

The workshop may be cancelled if there are not enough registrants. The minimum number of participants varies by workshop.

In-person workshops are held at GQCCC’s Farmhouse location, 5554 Clayton Rd, Ste. 4, Concord, CA.

If you have a skill or a technique that you would like to share with the membership, please contact the Workshop Chair.

Are you curious about Free Motion Quilting (FMQ), but not quite sure how to get started?  Then this class is for you!   It is geared for absolute beginners and those who have tried a little FMQ but got frustrated and quit.

We will review some basic concepts during the first part of the class, including how to set up your machine and get correct tension.  This will eliminate one of the biggest barriers to learning FMQ.  Then we set up our machines and do some really easy stitching, so you can start to get a feel for how it’s done.  After a break, we’ll learn four very simple but very elegant FMQ patterns, to get you started on your FMQ journey.

This workshop is suitable for all levels of sewists, but you should have a good understanding of the operation of your sewing machine.

Let's have fun with a Bali Pop (or two)!  Any Jelly Roll or strips from your stash will work, too.  Using approximately 60-2 1/2" strips, you can create approximately 25 -10" blocks.  It is so much fun to decide which four strips to stitch together into a tube, cut, and puzzle into a unique design.

This workshop is suitable for all levels of sewists.

If you register for the workshop, plan on participating in a Zoom session on Thursday, May 30 from 7 to 8 PM.  Joan will discuss selecting fabric colors and contrast to get the best effect in the final project.

Come play with us and see what a beautiful creation you can come up with!
