Quilts to Share (QTS), our Community Outreach group, continues to move forward, as it has in the past, making kits for guild members to check out and sew.   The QTS team prepares kits for quilts, bibs, placemats, potholders and pillowcases.

For Fall 2015, in addition to the kits that are regularly prepared, our QTS group has also made kits and sewn pillowcases for each person – women, men and children -who are participating in the Winter Nights program.

The Winter Nights Rotating Shelter Program  is a project of the Social Justice Alliance of the Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County.  It provides a clean, safe and warm facility at night and a daytime services center during winter for homeless families with children. The program will serve up to 30 persons at any given time.  Congregations throughout central and east Contra Costa provide space, meals, and volunteers.  Winter Nights will provide bedding, and Winter Nights professional staff will supervise the shelter 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

For the Fall 2016 Winter Nights program, we have an even more ambitious plan in place – we plan to sew a quilt for each person participating in the program.
On October 24, 2015, six Board Members joined together to shop, cook and serve dinner for 80 people, at the Concord Adult Shelter on Arnold Industrial Way.  It was not only a fun team building occasion, we also had the opportunity to visit with many of the people who came to eat.
