Our September general meeting was great, with guest speaker, Rita Hutchens, but the best part was to see over 100 members in attendance at the temporary location in Walnut Creek. More great guest speakers are scheduled for the months to come, so check out our lineup of programs in this newsletter. Our website at www.gqccc.org highlights our guest speakers through May 2016, so sure to read about all the great guest speakers who will visit us in the months to come.
We are so lucky to be so close to a major international quilt show held in Santa Clara each October. Pacific International Quilt Show (PIQF) is nothing if not awe inspiring. The quilts are amazing and so many interesting and intriguing new products, and fabric, from a large list of vendors. It is well worth the drive!
October 3rd we held the kick off meeting for our annual quilt show that will be held in April 2016. These dedicated committee members are what makes ours how so successful. This is our major fundraiser each year and is a great opportunity for both new members and old to make new friends while volunteering in one of the hundreds of shifts that help to keep the quilt show running, and so popular and profitable. Please start thinking about what you would like to do when you volunteer at the quilt show. Remember that the energy flows when we all work together!
The Opportunity Quilt ticket packets for our members will be available to pick up at our October general meeting. I like to bring my checkbook and pay for the tickets at the meeting and just take care of that responsibility right away, sticking my return address labels on the ticket stubs so I can cross that box off.
