With all the warm weather it is hard to believe it is October already. This is the time of year for planning and sewing for holiday giving. I am busy cutting fabric and making up kits for each of my planned projects for the season. It takes a little extra time up front, but when I do have stitching time, I can sew like gangbusters on my sewing machine and fly through some projects.
What do you have planned this month? Pacific International Quilt Show (PIQF) is open to the public from Thursday October 13th through Sunday October 16th. Kaffe Fassett is giving an hour lecture on Thurs-day afternoon around 4:30 PM. That should be some-thing to see with all his lovely fabrics. I expect that his lecture should be great, too. Lots of interesting vendors are normally at PIQF, so there are always things to see after you are totally saturated with looking at quilts. Hard to believe, but it does happen!
Although our quilt show is in April, it really takes a large committee and many moons to prepare for it, so we had our kick off meeting Saturday morning. We are still short a few Chairs: Demonstrations, Treasurer, and Vendors. So please see if you can volunteer. “Many hands make light work.” John Heywood.
While you are working on your holiday giving projects, please consider making some extra ones to donate to Country Store as they are requesting Boutique items for the Quilt Show this year.
Maybe most important of all – QUILT! We need more of your lovely quilts to hang in our 2017 Quilt Show. Check out the categories, and start creating a lovely quilt to enter. Or join one of our two challenges for the show: The Challenge (Hawaii) and Fabric Tele-phone. Beverly Spurs is Chair of The Challenge and Kathy Callahan is Chair of Fabric Telephone. Both of these talented and creative quilters will help you get inspired to try something new.
So “HAPPY QUILTING TO YOU!” (Sung to the tune of “Happy Birthday”.)
