After enjoying so many beautiful quilts at Pacific International Quilt Festival (PIQF) in October, I have enough inspiration to last me for many months to come. YES! I realize that I say this every year but it is still true!
Jan Soules, our November guest speaker, will present a trunk show of her award-winning quilts and describe how to make super borders to increase your quilt’s impact. This kind of information could come in very handy when you are stitching your quilt en-tries for our annual quilt show in April 2017, so please be sure to attend our general meeting.
Exciting News! Next year, our guild will be welcoming Jennie Rayment, the Calico Queen from England, to give a trunk show (always surprising!) and teaching a two day class, in February 2017. Read more in this newsletter.
Other ways to participate in the quilt show, are to join one of our two challenges: Challenge Hawaii and Fabric Telephone. They are always good for a fun time as you plan your entry.
There are lots of ways to become more active in the guild. Lots of tasks to be done. But when I say “become more active in the guild” I really mean “make more friends.” I didn’t start getting to know people and making friends, until I became involved in the work of the guild. Then I started meeting people and making connections, in workshops, selling tickets, cooking for the homeless. We don’t become friends because we are all sitting in the same room listening to the same speaker. We become friends as we work together, doing something we enjoy, laughing, talking together. The work is just the excuse to get together. So please dive in and have a good time!
