Spring seems to have finally arrived in time for us to relax and check out some of the many guild quilt shows in the San Francisco surround. Seeing quilts from other guilds can widen our experiences as we see their quilt patterns on display, their challenges, vendors and guest speakers, all of which can provide more inspiration to us in our quilting lives. So many ideas out there, new patterns, new techniques and so many paths to follow.
The next three months of general meetings are filled with wonderful speakers to enjoy, each with their own view of quilting to share with us, so be sure not to miss our future general meetings. Our talented, skilled and generous members continue to teach new techniques in the third Saturday member led workshops, so be sure to check out the long list of offerings in this newsletter and sign up early.
In August, the meeting will be full of member led demonstrations on many techniques and aspects of quilting, which is a nice way of receiving a short introduction to these different techniques, making it easier for each of us to select the next new thing we would like to try.
Our fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th, so be sure to renew prior to June 30th. Guild membership renewal forms can be found at general meetings, in the Farmhouse and on the website – gqccc.org. I like to renew early so I can be sure to be included in the new membership directory and to receive my membership card. Don’t forget that having a membership card in the guild also means discounts at many quilt stores that we like to frequent, so renew now so there will be no “discounts interruptus” to mar your shopping experience.
See you at the general meeting on Monday May 15th. Ann Shaw will show all her beautiful quilts that she has created using, world famous and now retired, Ruth McDowell techniques. Twenty lucky guild members will be taking a class with Ann so that they can learn these special techniques on the day after the meeting.
This will be a great year!
