Our May general meeting was busy as the guild’s new slate of executive officers was voted in for the 2017- 2019 term: President Becky Styles, 1st VP Mary Pimentel-Wheeler, Membership Reba Siero, and Corresponding Secretary Karen Morones. Terry McNally will complete the second year of the Recording Secretary 2016-2018 term. This means that Joan Reed, Koni Collins, Julia Nakao and I will be retiring.
Ann Shaw, our May guest speaker, gave a wonderful program as she displayed and discussed her beautiful quilts, which she had designed and sewn using Ruth McDowell techniques. Ann also taught a class the next day, teaching 20 happy members how to create one of her Chicken Challenge creatures. Now our 2018 Quilt Show can feature a Chicken Challenge Exhibit, so get those creatures ready for display!
We have some great programs and workshops coming up over the next few months, so be sure to keep up to date on all the happenings, through our newsletters and our guild website, www.gqccc.org.
As our fiscal year comes to a close, it is time to thank all of you for your generous donations of quilts and other quilted items, fabric and notions, that have enriched our philanthropic programs of Quilts to Share and Patriotic Quilts, and for our Country Store. Your time, talents and kind natures make this guild so special, so please be sure to thank yourself, too.
With summer coming up, vacations, travel and lots of quilting fun are on the horizon, so have a great time. Like most of you, my piles of UFOs are calling me, and hopefully some finished quilts will be ready to give away come September.
