On Monday November 16, 2015, we are happy to welcome Sherri Lynn Wood as our guest speaker.  Sherri is a truly Modern Quilter and will be sharing her insights with us.  She will also bring some copies of her recently published book for sale, The Improv Handbook for Modern Quilters.

Sherri always encourages students of improv to look at their environment for inspiration, not to other people’s quilts.  When Sherri first started her blog, she had a series of weekly posts on Inspiration Sundays, under the category of Sketchbook. Each post featured an image of an object in her environment and an abstracted pattern sketch of that object.  Two of the techniques she has developed, the wedge-curve technique and the bias-strip piecing technique, were based on organic items: zinnias and onions, and are included in her book.   This is sure to be an interesting evening.
