How are you faring with the heat? I have been spending the late afternoons on my Bernina, as I sit under the ceiling fan turned on high. I hope that you, too, are finding a way to keep cool while sewing during these hot summer months.
August is the second month of our guild’s fiscal year. Come join us at our general meeting this month as we cut, sew, press, and do some handwork, to benefit our Outreach Groups: Quilts to Share and Patriotic Quilts. These teams have been working hard to prepare all the fabric for this fun evening. This is a great opportunity to visit with old friends, make new friends, and enjoy a treat or two along the way, while you sew for a cause.
For our new members, our Membership Chair is hosting a special Open House to help acquaint you with our Farmhouse and all the opportunities for fun and education there, so check out her article in this newsletter.
There are other volunteer opportunities coming up, too. Contact Ann Gimbel if you would like to sign up to take our Opportunity Quilt to another guild to sell tickets. It is a fun opportunity to meet other quilters and experience what other guild meetings are like. Another volunteer opportunity is as a member of the Nominating Committee which is responsible for vetting future guild officers and helping to fill board member slots. Contact Maryann Carrol Moser to get involved.
Don’t forget that membership renewal me is here. Renew by the August general meeting to avoid the late fee charge and ensure the receipt of your newsletter each month so you can continue to enjoy all the wonderful programs the guild has to offer. Also, using your valid membership card can get you extra discounts at many quilt stores, too.
In the meantime, until we meet again, please stay cool! It is way too hot out there for us delicate quilting flowers!
