Picture: Moulin Rouge by Dale Wolfe, 2016 Pass the Envelope Challenge. I was the second in my chain, following Kathy Callahan’s lovely hand appliqued Eiffel Tower. Of course, Moulin Rouge came to mind as a Can Can dancer is more recognizable than a red windmill. So …Voila! Oh La la.

Good evening, Quilting Friends,

What a great quilt show we had with so many wonderful quilts hung – a total of 207. Not one but two Special Exhibits this year. The rest was our Featured Artists: Ann Gimbel, Beverly Spurs, Jackie Seidell, Kathy Callahan in our ‘A Is For Appliqué Exhibit’. Their hand appliqué quilts were so lovely.

Our Life me Members Exhibit featured our members over 80 years old, and their quilts were beautiful. The fabric, patterns, and the colors may have changed, but the same great quilting techniques were used by: Barbara Abel, Margaret Bender, Karen Bray, Ro Catalano, Pat De Rushia, Ranny Frank, Lena Kolle, Karen Mahshi, Evelyn Phillips, Myrna Rutkas, Marian Wohlfrom.

Our Poppy Fields Forever Opportunity Quilt was won by Gerene Sayre, a former guild president, who has moved to Nevada and she was so tickled to receive this lovely hand appliqué quilt.

Best of Show went to Ann Gimbel, for Dana’s Wedding Quilt, and she was awarded a $100 gift certificate from The Cotton Patch by Linda Morris, manager.

Of course, there has not been me to prepare the final tallies for the quilt show, but preliminary figures show a lower attendance this year – just 722, or $7220, under our six year average of 870, which is a attributed to the newspapers not publishing our articles. The Opportunity Quilt brought in $6,643 and Country Store had $17,800 in sales, both of which were higher than recent years. More detailed information on will come as reports are completed.

A really big thank you to all the members of the Quilt Show Committee, who work all year in order to make this a successful show and a money maker for our guild. They are super! That said, we always have room for more volunteers, so join in, it is a lot of fun to work together and make more friends!
