We find ourselves in a one-of-a kind experience, sheltering-in-place, and using social-distancing when leaving our homes for essential activities, like exercising and shopping. GQCCC has had to cancel the 2020 Quilt Show, cancel general meetings, close the Farmhouse, postpone member workshops and have virtual board meetings.

During this stressful time, it’s good to remember that quilting, sewing and doing things that brings us joy, stop mental chatter, and quiet negative thoughts boost the immune system and bring peace of mind amidst the turmoil.

We have some good news for the Guild. Despite my newbie blunder to forget to mention creating a nominating committee at the February general meeting for this year’s elections, three gracious Guild Members have stepped up to run. The nominations are…

  • Mary Pimentel-Wheeler for Recording Secretary
  • Cathy Sargent for 2nd Vice President
  • Eileen Limberg for Treasurer

If anyone else would like to put their name into the running for any position, please contact me.

If we are unable to have the May General Meeting, elections will be held virtually.

Thank you to everyone that has put in time and effort in preparing and organizing the 2020 Show and to those members that entered quilts. Answers to questions you may have about the cancellation are found in this newsletter.

We are already looking forward to the 2021 Quilt Show, April 10th and 11th. Donna Brooks will stay on as Quilt Show Chair, yay! Our Guest Artists are still Aileyn Ecob and Jean Jurgenson, yay!

As things are changing fast in this state of affairs, we will continue to put updates on the website, social media (Facebook) and send out email blasts to keep you informed.

Stay well and keep quilting. Doreen O’Brien
